EU Wienn/Srez (Pause_2)
A couple of abstract beatscapes from Russian duo Sasha Zaicev and
Ilya Baramia, the perfect noise to soundtrack an android breakdown,
maybe. At once deeply melancholic and gloriously beatific, "Wienn"
unravels to the sound of malfunctioning vocal loops, Vangelis synth
swoons and chewy Aphex beats. Equally bittersweat is "Srez", a sonic
glitch stretched over three minutes, where Boards Of Canada-style
tweeterings are spliced with life-support machine drum flickers.
Anyone looking for more of those heavenly transmissions from the
heart of the electric storm should check out www.mu.ru/eu/ and download
some of their MP3s, which include their glowering debut single from
'97 'Mice On Moon', as well as such minimal gems with coldly abstract
names like '11_4' and "Granhul Farhere'.
